AIKO Achieves Hat-Trick with Record-Breaking 480W Residential Solar Panel
February 4th, 2025
MELBOURNE, February 4, 2025 – AIKO, the global leader in solar technology innovation, has once again set a new benchmark in residential solar with the launch of the Neostar 480W, Australia’s highest-efficiency residential solar panel. Produced at AIKO’s state-of-the-art facility in Zhuhai, the Neostar 480W is now ready for shipment, marking a significant milestone as Australia’s first residential solar panel to exceed 24% module efficiency.
Building on the success of its 470W and 475W panels in the 54-cell category, the new 480W module delivers unmatched performance while maintaining the same compact residential footprint (1757 x 1134mm). This achievement marks the third consecutive time AIKO has broken its own record for delivering the highest-efficiency residential panels to the Australian market, solidifying its position as the leader in premium solar technology.
Designed for Installers, Engineered for Performance
The 480W Neostar 2P has been meticulously engineered to meet the needs of Australian solar installers. Weighing under 22 kilograms and occupying less than 2 square meters, the panel retains the compact, lightweight design that installers value for safe handling and ease of installation. This innovation reflects AIKO’s commitment to balancing high power output with practical installation requirements.

According to Thomas Bywater, Country Director of AIKO ANZ, initial pilot shipments of the 480W Neostar 2P are already en route to Solar Juice, AIKO’s local distribution partner. Demand is expected to be strong among premium solar installers, driven by the panel’s cutting-edge performance. To further support the Australian market, in recent months AIKO has also upgraded its standard Neostar 2P 465 Watts panel to 470 Watts across all major distributors. Other new solar module types are expected in the coming weeks.
Leading the Future of Solar Innovation
AIKO’s leadership in solar technology is driven by its advanced ABC technology, which has secured the company’s place at the top of the Taiyang News efficiency leaderboard for 22 consecutive months. This consistent performance has made AIKO the preferred choice for high-performance solar modules worldwide.
In a recent effort to push the boundaries of solar efficiency, AIKO has partnered with the Australian Centre for Advanced Photovoltaics (ACAP) to launch a US$4 million initiative aimed at achieving 30% efficiency with interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cells. Founded by Professor Martin Green, a recipient of the prestigious Queen Elizabeth Prize for Engineering, ACAP is a global leader in photovoltaic research and innovation. This collaboration underscores AIKO’s commitment to driving groundbreaking advancements in solar technology and solidifies its role as a pioneer in next-generation energy solutions.
