AIKO Partners with Nordlys NTNU to Drive Solar Innovation in the World Solar Challenge
January 14th, 2025
[Düsseldorf & Trondheim, 14. January 2025] – AIKO, a global leader in solar energy technology, is proud to announce its collaboration with Nordlys NTNU, the innovative solar car team from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology. This partnership reflects AIKO’s commitment to supporting cutting-edge sustainability initiatives and advancing renewable energy solutions.
As the first solar car team from Norway, Nordlys NTNU is breaking new ground by competing in the World Solar Challenge, a grueling 3,000-kilometer race across the harsh Australian outback. Known for its unforgiving conditions, the race route subjects teams to extreme temperatures, intense solar radiation, and rugged terrain. Competing cars must navigate through arid deserts and unpredictable weather patterns, testing the limits of solar innovation and endurance.
Jessica Zhang, CMO at AIKO, commented: “We are thrilled to partner with Nordlys NTNU, Norway’s first solar racing team, as they tackle one of the most challenging solar races in the world. Their innovative spirit aligns seamlessly with AIKO’s dedication to creating high-efficiency solar technologies that can withstand the toughest environments.”
Sivert Sande Kverme, Founder & Project Leader of Nordlys NTNU, added: ” As it is our first car, we are choosing mostly safe technologies and solutions. However, an exciting possibility we have is to collaborate with AIKO, using their cutting-edge ABC cells (All Back Contact) for our solar modules. These cells are known for delivering world-leading efficiency in solar modules, and we are eager to see how this will boost our final car’s performance.”
AIKO’s industry-leading solar technologies, renowned for their unparalleled efficiency, will empower Nordlys NTNU’s solar car to excel in Australia’s extreme conditions. With record-setting solar cell conversion rates, AIKO’s solutions maximize energy capture even under the intense and variable sunlight of the Australian outback, ensuring the team has the technological edge to tackle challenges such as dust storms and prolonged exposure to high temperatures.
Stay tuned as AIKO and Nordlys NTNU work together to push the boundaries of what solar technology can achieve!
