  • Leading Technological Transformation in the Photovoltaic Industry
Over the years, the company has focused on the solar cell sector, consistently making innovation and R&D the cornerstone of its core competitiveness. In the context of the “dual carbon” goals, we actively seize new opportunities in the development of clean energy, leveraging advanced technology to drive industry progress. The company has successfully overcome the technological barriers of back-contact solar cells and achieved the world’s first large-scale production technology for silver-free photovoltaic cells. With ABC technology at its core, the company has established a competitive advantage centered on leading photovoltaic conversion efficiency.
  • Diversified Platform Development and R&D Collaboration
The company actively builds technology R&D and technical exchange platforms, continuously strengthening its independent innovation capabilities. Currently, we have established multiple R&D departments, including the Kuafu Laboratory, Jupiter Laboratory, Product Technology Department, Testing Center, and Industrial Automation Laboratory. Additionally, innovation and collaboration platforms have been set up in Zhejiang, Guangdong, Tianjin, and overseas locations. The company collaborates with renowned domestic and international research institutions, such as Zhejiang University, Sun Yat-sen University, Ningbo Institute of Materials Technology and Engineering (Chinese Academy of Sciences), and the Netherlands Organization for Applied Scientific Research (TNO), injecting AIKO’s strength into the advancement of the industry.
  • High-Level Talent Support
AIKO has built a high-level innovation technology team and talent pool, gathering a large number of outstanding technical and managerial talents in the global photovoltaic and semiconductor fields. We have also established postdoctoral workstations, providing strong talent support for the company’s major scientific research breakthroughs.

Our Targets

AIKO will maintain high-level and sustained R&D investment in the clean technology sector, fulfilling its commitment to sustainable development. For example, Jinan AIKO will achieve 100% renewable energy usage, 90% water resource recycling, and a 30% waste heat recovery rate through innovations in technology and production processes, striving to set a new benchmark for green manufacturing in the global photovoltaic industry.

In 2024, AIKO filed a total of 2645 patent applications and was granted 1371 patents.

Water Resource Management

Our Strategy

AIKO places great importance on water resource management and is committed to continuously optimizing production processes to improve water utilization efficiency during operations. Through ongoing exploration of alternative and recycled water usage, we aim to reduce dependence on fresh water resources. In line with our programs to reduce water usage in its supply chain, we collaborate with all suppliers to jointly promote the reduction of water usage. We are mindful of the impact of water usage on local communities and, as part of our strength of commitments to maintain community relations with regards to water usage, we pledge to engage in proactive communication and cooperation with communities based on water stress assessments. AIKO is dedicated to building a responsible water resource management system that fosters sustainable relationships with the communities in which we operate.

Our Governance

AIKO’s Board of Directors holds the highest level of oversight over water resource management issues, and the CEO is responsible for water management strategy and performance. The Board has established a Strategic and Sustainability Committee, which is responsible for supervising the formulation and completion of water resource management goals. AIKO has set up a Water Treatment Capacity Center to fully assist the Strategic and Sustainability Committee in water resource management tasks. The Center leads the technical management of the water system in the whole life cycle of the project, formulate water use planning and treatment standards in detail, deeply participate in the water use and drainage performance assessment, and accelerate the digital construction and operation management of the whole process of the water system.

AIKO Water Governance Framework Table

Our Practices

  • Water Efficiency
The company actively implements water-efficient production processes, installing metering devices on production equipment to implement precise water management. Through initiatives such as the renovation of the pure water system, we have significantly improved water-saving rates.
  • Water Saving in the Supply Chain:
The company has developed the “Supplier Water Saving Classification Management Measures” and is actively driving programs to reduce water usage in its supply chain for all suppliers. The focus is particularly on water-saving measures for key material suppliers, such as wafer and major chemical suppliers.
  • Water risk assessment
The company utilizes the water risk assessment tool developed by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF) annually as part of programs to regularly monitor and measure water risk at the company’s operations. This risk assessment covers all operations and identifies water risk indicators and levels for all regions where its bases are located, while also developing emergency response plans to ensure the long-term sustainable supply of water resources. Through water baseline stress and water quality risk assessments at each base, the company works in close coordination with parks and local areas, making use of water resources in a manner that is appropriate to local conditions, while reducing pollutant emissions and mitigating local water resource risks.
  • Recycled Water Substitution:
The company, based on the water resource conditions of the regions where its bases are located, has developed diversified alternative water sources. This includes promoting the use of recycled water, municipal reclaimed water, and the utilization of municipal sewage for resource recovery. Several projects have already been implemented, providing evidence of using alternative water sources, such as the reuse of air conditioning condensate water and ROR concentrate water, among others.

Our Targets

AIKO strictly manages production water usage, with each base formulating annual water-saving goals and strategies based on actual production and operational conditions. The performance on metrics such as reclaimed water reuse rate and recycled water utilization rate is incorporated into the environmental performance evaluation criteria for each base.
