AIKO Achieves 25% Module Efficiency in Mass Production, Extending Leadership in High-Efficiency Solar
April 25th, 2025
AIKO has retained the top position in the April 2026 TaiyangNews Monthly Update on Commercially Available High-Efficiency Solar Modules, with its ABC (All Back Contact) modules achieving 25% conversion efficiency in mass production. Since March 2023, AIKO has consistently ranked No.1, reinforcing its leadership in next-generation module technology.
This milestone is the result of coordinated innovation across three key layers of the ABC technology platform.
At the cell level, AIKO has further enhanced intrinsic efficiency through advanced passivation optimization. By refining material systems and deposition processes, carrier recombination is reduced, while tighter process control minimizes damage in subsequent manufacturing steps. This leads to higher open-circuit voltage and improved fill factor, forming the foundation for efficiency gains.
In metallization and interconnection, AIKO has introduced zero-busbar (0BB) technology into mass production. By eliminating conventional busbars and enabling current collection through fine fingers, the design shortens current paths and reduces resistive losses. This lowers series resistance and further improves fill factor, directly contributing to higher cell efficiency.
At the module level, AIKO has industrialized its proprietary full-screen (INFINITE) integration approach. By combining precision overlap soldering with hidden busbars relocated to the rear, the design removes front-side shading and maximizes the use of the encapsulation area. As a result, the active cell area increases by approximately 1.7% within the same module footprint, directly translating into higher power output.
The technology is already being deployed at scale. Since December last year, AIKO has delivered over 100MW of these high-efficiency modules, with installations across multiple commercial and industrial projects. Applications span several provinces in China, including Guangdong, Sichuan, Jiangxi, and Chongqing, as well as overseas markets such as Thailand. These deployments confirm stable performance across a range of operating and climate conditions.
Separately, AIKO has launched two cell technology upgrade projects, converting PERC capacity at its Yiwu facility into 5GW of ABC capacity and upgrading part of its TOPCon capacity at its Chuzhou facility into 6GW of ABC capacity.
With mass production efficiency now exceeding 25% and capacity expansion underway, AIKO continues to advance ABC as a scalable, high-performance technology pathway for the global energy transition.
