Revamping for Efficiency: AIKO’s ABC Modules Deliver More Power with Half the Modules
April 8th, 2025
Molital Abrasivi, a leading manufacturer based in La Morra, Italy, has taken a significant step in optimizing its energy infrastructure by revamping its rooftop solar installation. With a strong commitment to quality and operational excellence, the company sought a solution that could maximize energy output, enhance reliability, and reduce installation area. Partnering with distributor Wattkraft and installer AlbaSolar S.r.l., Molital selected AIKO’s N-Type ABC modules, leveraging their advanced efficiency to upgrade its 426.87 kWp solar system.
Maximizing Energy, Minimizing Space
Originally installed in 2011, Molital’s existing 422.71 kWp PV system had suffered a 63% decline in performance, significantly impacting expected energy output. To restore efficiency and reduce production losses, the company sought a high-performance solution that could maximize energy generation within the existing infrastructure. By switching to 918 AIKO 465W N-Type ABC modules, Molital was able to:
- Increase system capacity by 1%, from 422.71 kWp to 426.87 kWp, while
- Reducing the covered area by 40%, from 3,150m² to 1,884m²
This significant space optimization allows Molital to make better use of its rooftop for future expansion while ensuring higher energy generation per square meter.
Carlo Sacchetto, CEO of Molital Abrasivi, shared:”Our company’s quality policy is centered on continuous improvement. The existing system’s efficiency losses led us to seek a revamping solution that maximized performance within the available space. AIKO’s modules impressed us with their exceptional efficiency in standard dimensions, their reliability under partial shading conditions, and their low temperature coefficient, ensuring stable energy output. AIKO’s competitive pricing further solidified our decision.”
Revamping with Advanced Technology
AIKO’s N-Type ABC technology stood out as the optimal choice due to its higher efficiency, superior performance in challenging conditions, and long-term reliability. Unlike conventional technologies, AIKO’s modules are designed to mitigate shading losses and maintain stable performance in high-temperature environments.
Marco Lucibello, Customer Service Manager at AlbaSolar, emphasized:”After careful analysis, we identified AIKO’s N-Type ABC modules as a clear technological advancement over other options on the market. They not only deliver higher power output in a compact footprint but also offer long-term performance stability—critical for ensuring the success of this revamping project.”
Future-Proofing Solar Investments
With a payback period of approximately three years, Molital’s upgraded system is set to deliver long-term cost savings and increased profitability, further aligning with the company’s sustainability objectives. The project involved the complete removal of 2,052 existing modules and the installation of 918 AIKO 465W N-Type ABC modules, significantly enhancing system efficiency. Additionally, the repositioning of the modules to a 75% south/east and 25% north/west configuration ensures optimized solar exposure and improved energy generation.
As a global leader in BC technology and a pioneer in BC mass production, AIKO continues to push the boundaries of photovoltaic efficiency, enabling businesses like Molital Abrasivi to achieve greater energy independence, financial returns, and sustainability.
